Epic race fail

While I was in Nashville last week, one of my co-workers told me about a truly epic race fail.

CJ is a large black woman. She was out having a smoke break with a another friend of mine, D, also black, and a white woman, E, that I only vaguely know.

E was complaining about how much it was costing her to get her yard mowed. D made a (mostly) sarcastic comment that she must be getting an American to do it. E's completely off-hand response was, "No, it's just some black guy."

WTF???

D piped back with, "Oh, yeah... because of course we're not citizens," indicating himself and CJ.

E then *proceeds to try to defend her comment,* saying that it wasn't racist and he was just taking it the wrong way, etc.

When CJ told me about this later, I thought she was kidding at first. I mean, come on -- surely even the most bigoted idiot in the world would be smarter than to say something like that, right?

Apparently not.

On the other hand, I at least got CJ to laugh about one aspect of it, when I made the comment that most people aren't flexible enough to get both feet that deeply into their own mouths at the same time. ::G::

I just made a "fail" icon today, but only gamers will get it. (Rolling a 1, for most types of rolls, is an automatic failure)

Reminds me of a situation some years back -- a bomb blew up a synagogue in Paris. The news reported the death of a certain number of Jews and "three innocent Frenchmen" who happened by outside the synagogue.

Fail.
