Today three friends of mine and I did something that most of us haven't done in years, if not decades, if EVER:
we ran a 5k.
And not just a 5k, but a 5k combined with an obstacle course, called LuvMud. (www.luvmud.com, for the curious).
About 7 weeks ago I started doing a "couch to 5k" to get ready, but there weren't enough weeks to actually get to 5k -- I managed a continuous jog for 2 miles last week, which was more than I'd done in over 20 years.
It was a HELL of a lot of fun. There were people there in all sorts of different costumes (and yes, doing the course in costume), and a wonderful energy to the entire thing. Yes, at some point there will be pictures, and possibly even video -- one of the fellows running with me was wearing a "helmet cam".
Now I'm tired and sunburned and sore, but we've already decided we're doing it again next year.
Anybody want to come join us? :-)

I miss running. Lungs, body, and allergies can't take it anymore.
