I came across an interesting sentiment today:
"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step."
I mentioned it to a friend of mine, who asked me what some of those steps had been for me, as I looked back. It led to some interesting reflection/discussion.
