It's a slow day at work, but at least the manager is taking us to lunch. Someplace I've never been to, called Legends. Appropriate for a Dragon, but I doubt they'll have "virgin sacrifice" on the menu... ::G::

With the year coming to a close, I started thinking about how things had gone this year, and what things I wanted to accomplish next year. I decided to go back and compare last year's resolutions against this year's accomplishments, and see how they measured up.

Last year's resolutions:
1) Activate (and USE) membership to Gold's Gym.
Total, utter, and absolute bomb. I have a membership, and I think I've set foot in the gym exactly twice. 8-(

2) Begin training with local dojo. Have found one I like, in my style, and observed a class, planning to start classes this month.
Done. I have been attending classes regularly, including two seminars, and have even been awarded my 2nd-degree black belt this year.

3) Get fully "moved in" to the apartment -- i.e. boxes unpacked/thrown away, or moved to storage, artwork hung, etc.
Mostly done. The major absence on this one is that the artwork isn't up, but I'm off all next week, so maybe then.

4) Develop a better knowledge of where things are around town, and how to navigate to/from/between them.
Doing pretty well on this one, although since I'm usually driving while Rhi navigates and/or checks the map, she's actually got a better "mental map" of the city than I do.

5) Resume pursuit of my Bachelor's Degree (currently looking at Fall '04 semester).
Three classes done so far, with A's in all three, and next semester's classes already selected but not yet registered for.

So, not too bad overall -- 4 out of 5.

I have been given a HUGE compliment....

A friend of mine trains in a martial arts school in Albany, NY, and came down to Nashville for a pressure-point seminar back in November. The Albany school doesn't do anything like that, and apparently the whole school has been abuzz with the information that was brought back, and wanted a seminar of their own. Since their head instructor wants to inject some new energy into the school (no pun intended ::S::), he agreed.

The only catch is, they're a small school, and the fellow who conducted our seminar typically gets several thousand dollars, which is WAY out of their price range.

So they asked me.

Wow!

Okay, I've taught plenty of classes before. I've conducted the entire run of women's self-defense classes. For all intents and purposes, I've run the school for weeks at a time. I'm perfectly comfortable teaching, and I think I do a good job of it.

But this is new territory. ::S::

But I wrote up my proposal for a seminar and emailed it to the school's head instructor, so now we get to my least favorite part -- waiting!

Even if they don't accept my proposal, it's one HELL of a compliment for them to ask me!
