I interviewed for an internal position on Monday, Oct 23, and I was told I should hear something by the end of the week. That Friday, I asked again, and was told it should be the following week (Oct 30 - Nov 3). Monday of this week (Nov 6) I was told again that it would probably be sometime this week.
I paid a visit to my HR dept today to check about the status of the position, at which point I discovered that every answer I've been given so far has been completely empty of meaning.
I asked the HR rep when they were going to make a decision concerning the position, and she said I should hear something some time this week. I found this puzzling, since today is Thursday. I pointed this out to her and asked if she meant by tomorrow... and her eyes got that "Oh crap I'm busted!" look. She stammered for a moment, then said that she didn't know if it would be tomorrow or sometime next week, and that at the moment the ball was really in the court of the other HR person who'd been in the interview, and she was at an out-of-town Career Fair all day today.
I got the very strong impression that the "week" responses I've been getting so far have been nothing more than automatic, knee-jerk reactions that are given to every such inquiry, with no actual thought behind them.
You know, it's probably a good thing (for certain definitions of "good" ::G::) that we're hosting a martial arts seminar this weekend -- it will let me work off some frustration!
