My stepmother is a Steven Segal fan? Really? Okay.
Nothing wrong with that -- there are several of them that I enjoy quite a bit, too. I just didn't expect her to be into them.
This weekend, she not only surprised me by telling me how much she liked his movies, but by another comment she made on them.
Apparently, she was watching one of them recently (didn't tell me which one), and at one point he turned and walked away from the camera... and her reaction was, "OMG, that's
draconis!" She couldn't really articulate it beyond that point, but basically the way he stood/moved/walked reminded her strongly of me, and the way I stand/move/walk.
Not completely surprising, since I've been doing martial arts of various kinds for 25 years, including Aikido (the art Segal uses)... but it was an interesting (and ego-boosting, in a way ::G::) thing to hear her say.
::sighs:: And do you know how difficult it can be to know that someone with his skill and knowledge level is living in a suburb of your town, but that you can't approach him at all because he has stated that he has retired and not only won't teach any more, but won't make any more movies or do anything that promotes violence in any way?
Don't get me wrong -- I fully respect the man's wishes, and won't have anything to do with disturbing his peace. But MAN it would be lovely to get him to come to our dojo just ONCE!
