On 3/18, I will be teaching a martial arts seminar in Albany, NY. The hosting school has a flyer on their site, and I sent a copy to my family.
I love my family, I really do -- but sometimes they can show the color of their necks (i.e. RED) in some amusing (to me, at least) ways.
In this case, the flyer reads "A unique seminar with Sensei C____ B____" and goes on to provide details.
The reaction I got from my father the small-town country lawyer was a voicemail saying that I'd "climbed the ladder a heck of a lot higher than he'd realized" and that "he knew he was too ignorant to really appreciate what it means, but it obviously meant a lot."
My mother the suburbanite realtor apparently posted a copy of the flyer on the door of her office... after which she said her friends wanted to know why she'd named me "Sensui" [sic]. I hope she's joking, but I'm honestly not sure! LOL
And then there was the reaction from my former instructor back in Memphis... "DAMN Boy!" 8-)
