It was one of the nicer MidSummers that I can remember.
Rhi and I went down to Charleston for the day. Spent the day walking around the downtown area, until we got tired (and sensible) and got a pair of the all-day shuttle passes.
I was really surprised by the amount of interesting ironwork around there -- ornamental designs worked into just about any sort of fence, gate, door/window covering, etc.
I also saw something really interesting down at the harbor, although Rhi didn't spot it -- a large sailing vessel, 4 masts, each one fully decked out with multiple sails. Given her size, I wonder if she was something like a Navy/Coast Guard "trainer" ship, or something along those lines.
The other thing that sticks out in my mind is the Aquarium. I can see why it is one of the most-visited ones in the country -- their Ocean Tank is awesome! If you ever get the chance to go, and are even *remotely* interested in such things, I *strongly* recommend it.
There is still a great deal I'd like to do/see there. I'd like to see a bit more of the town. I'd like to see Ft. Sumpter, and a few more of the historic spots. But mostly, I just think it's a nice town.
Now if I could just find a way to make the temperature more pleasant there... ::G::
Of course, coming home to find our copy of the new Harry Potter book didn't hurt our feelings any, either. Not bad, so far. 8-)
