I think Radical feminism like radical anything has pretyy much ruined anything it touches. However rational feminism can make things much better. The biggest issue I have with the article is the very limited sample she takes. She take discussions with a few of her friends and in very specific conversation and tries to extrapolate them to all women every were. A very very bad statistical model.
My experiance is that it is rare to find a woman with only one set of fantasies. Yes the rape fanatsy is common (the rapist almost always being a good looking fellow who does no real damage in the rape) And in my community it not uncommon to have such acted out. But the rose filled bath with candles and wine isw also common and acted out. Along with ever thing in between.
The key issue is to talk about it. find out what each partner truely wants and come to a common ground of what you can do for each other. And if there ae needs that cant be fullfilled be adult enough to allow said partner to fill those need with others. Some day my partner want 3 hours of getle sex, other days she want me to walk in the room grab her by the hair throw her to the bed and attack her like a wild beast. Both work just fine. I just need to know which she wants.
::rolling eyes:: Be nice if this was something oh, *new*, or well thought out. Back in '90 when I was working at Waldenbooks, one of the top-selling women's studies & erotica books was Friedman's "The Secret Garden," a book about women's fantasies as collected in interviews. Big surprise, it had a *lot* of rape fantasies. It also had a lot of women flatly saying, "Fun to fantasize, but damn right I don't want the real thing." And at that point, Secret Gardne had been out some 15 years, if I'm remembering correctly....
And then, as saxononyx says above, that's a lousy sampling job anyway.
