1. Tell you why I friended you.

I can tell this one is going to be a hard one for everyone who replies to this, because most of them have been of my friendslist for a very long time now.

I can't swear to it, but I suspect it was because of your involvement in the Eyrie, and EyrieCon.

2. Associate you with something - fandom, a song, a colour, a photo, etc.

Sailing.

3. Tell you something I like about you.

That you seem more willing than most to stand up and say, "This is who I am. It would be really nice if you like that, but if you don't, I will still survive."

4. Tell you a memory I have of you.

Staying up all night with you, us sitting on that big green leather couch in our living room, watching Stargate DVDs and talking.

5. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.

I know that you've lived in several countries. What made you decide to settle (at least for now) in Ireland?

6. Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.

The Dr. Who one titled "Listening - Trying to understand." From what I've noticed, you do that a lot.

1. Twas Eyrie related - I was on Rhi's mailing list for updates...
2. Wow - interesting
3. At first I was puzzled by this - then I read again and understood. But it's less a great decision or stand - I just don't know how to be any other way than how I am.
4. I liked that night. I liked that whole visit - including place we went for lunch one day and had a dessert that was truly gorgeous, which is why it's a pity I can't remember what it was or where...
6. Because I'm not good at being other than I am- I try to understand where I am misunderstanding or making assumptions. I live in a predominantly monocultural society. There is so much I just don't have exposure to - so I've never stopped to think about and I want to KNOW - which means I have to ask.

5. At heart I'm Irish. I understand this country. It's small, everyone knows everyone and we are rarely at odds with anyone in the world. And I'm lazy. If I were to live somewhere else I'm like it if they spoke English. When I'm overseas I miss Irish music and I love this land. It's a bone deep need to be part of this land. I could live somewhere else but my heart, my soul will always be here.
But then I'm an idealist - I probably see this land through rose coloured glasses.

The reason why I always associate you with sailing (which I probably should have explained before ::G::) is because I remember us talking during that all-nighter about how much you liked sailing, and how you really needed to put on another 1-2 stone in order to have enough mass to be one of the ones leaning way out to the side of the boat.

As for seeing Ireland through rose-coloured glasses... I think we all see "home" that way to a certain extent.
