Ye gods, I haven't posted since April? Ummmm... I took the summer off, maybe?

Let's see, what's been going on since then?

Karate Stuff:
I taught a session at the DKI camp in PA over Memorial Day weekend. It seemed to be fairly well-received, to the point that Grandmaster Dillman was harassing me when I was done that I'd been "giving all our secrets away -- now what are we going to do?" I took that as a compliment. ::G::

I attended the DKI camp in Indianapolis in July, and got to hook up with some of my favorite people there.

Our kempo karate classes have been going on all summer, in spite of the god-awful heat (we're still training outdoors). I really have to commend my guys for sticking with it -- they have been great!

The first Monday in August, we started a "100 Pushup Challenge" -- four of us are working our way up to being able to do 100 pushups. We started at 35, and have been adding 5 each week. As of tomorrow, we're at 60... and if I'm doing my math right (and we're able to maintain this pace) we'll reach 100 by Hallowe'en.

Two of my students had a rank test last month, and both passed with flying colors -- like I knew they would. :-)

One of my students obtained a book with material similar to what we do (Iain Abernathy's "Bunkai-Jutsu" for those who are curious) and loaned it to me because he wanted to get my thoughts on it. Not only does he want to discuss it with me when I'm done, but he has asked me to *please* make notes, underline/highlight sections, etc. so that he can have not only the author's work but my annotations on it. Book summation so far: the principles are very good, but the specific examples of applying those principles leaves a bit to be desired.

Work Stuff:
At work, we had some stuff blow up at a new facility of ours up in Toledo, OH and my boss and I had to fly up there for a few days. From a business standpoint, the trip was pretty much a bust. From a personal standpoint, I had some friends up in Detroit that I managed to hook up with, so that was good. And to think my boss didn't believe me when I told him that there weren't many places he could send me where I wouldn't be able to find friends to hang out with... ::G::

I'm supposedly on vacation all this week. Ten consecutive days away from work. Supposedly. In reality, I had to do at least *something* for work each of the first FIVE days of my vacation! The longer this went on, the less willing I was to answer my phone!

Personal Stuff:
I had another birthday last month. I'm now officially 21 with 23 years of experience. ;-)

For my birthday, I got one of my favorite gifts -- gift certificates to a local massage place called Calming Influence. In fact, I had a second massage with them just yesterday. If you live in the Memphis area, go check them out!

We've been having trouble with our roof leaking ... pretty much since we moved in. Well, we're finally getting a new roof, and the insurance company is paying for it. However, that means that for the last week, we've had people stomping around on the top of the house during the early hours of the morning, and scraping/shoveling off old shingles, and hammering down new ones, etc. Makes it a little tricky to sleep in of a morning!

I'm taking a meditation class from Prema Meditation. Two classes so far, out of six in their "Level 1" session. They're a little on the "warm and fuzzy" side for me, but it's been interesting. I'll be interested to see what else they have to say.

Computer stuff:
My laptop is having motherboard issues and is in the shop. I can't really complain TOO much -- it's 7 years old now? 8?

I did some minor updates to my web page, but am looking to do a complete re-structuring. Any of you web gurus willing to lend a hand?
