This weekend was exhausting, but very good.
It was my father's 75th birthday, and he loves to watch Ole Miss football, so we spent the day tailgating in The Grove. He had thought it was just going to be him and my stepmother, and maybe my stepsister and her family with them. That is, until Friday night when my older brother, older sister, and niece pulled up into the driveway... and then Rhi and I came down the next morning, as well as several other good friends of the family.
My older sister had managed to get scans of pictures of my father from his college days, and had one of them blown up into a banner to hang from the pavilion, announcing to all passersby that it was his 75th birthday, and giving the years he graduated from Ole Miss and from the law school there. There was even a cameraman from one of the TV stations for the visiting team (Fresno, CA -- WTF is Fresno, CA doing playing a SouthEastern Conference team?) who stopped by to get some footage.
Of course, it also didn't hurt that we won the game that night, against a team that was favored to beat us.
Unfortunately, I had to be at work at 6:00 Sunday morning, so after the game ended, Rhi and I drove back to Memphis. We got in shortly before 1:00 a.m., crashed for a few hours, then it was back to work for me.
Alysswolf and Rhi did some phenomenal work on the front yard while I was stuck at work Sunday -- thank you, ladies! The three of us had an early dinner at Bosco's, then Rhi and I got some more painting done on the living room. I think it will look nice once it's done, but man, I'm ready for it to be done!
