Yet more interesting things going on at work...

I found out today that yesterday morning must have been a real roller-coaster for my former Group Lead, David. It seems that early that morning, our manager had been talking with David, and told him that if he was interested, she would start the paperwork to make him a full-time employee, not just a contractor. Later that morning, she got informed that he was being terminated.

Unfortunately, someone has decided to try to "get back at" the person David *thinks* filed the complaint against him. He got a very nasty phone call this morning, cursing him out.

And the manager said in a meeting this morning that "she knows who did what" re: David's termination... whether she actually knows who filed the complaint(s), or was bluffing to try and get the person(s) involved to make some comment, I don't know.

...and yesterday one of David's cronies made a comment to the effect that he was going to find out who'd gotten David fired, and "squash that bug".

So much for their Non-Retaliation Policy...

No, not The Phantom Menace, although a lightsaber and a blaster or two would certainly improve things around there a bit... ::G::

It seems that my former Group Lead, David, hasn't been taking his termination gently.

He has apparently gotten a copy of the Policy Manual and read through it, and has discovered that if someone is fired for a Compliance issue, and the person who filed the Compliance complaint lied, their positions become reversed -- the terminated party is returned to his job, and the one who complained is terminated.

What good he thinks this will do him, I have no idea, but he seems to think he will be returning to us soon.

He also told one member of our team that he knows this person was conspiring with me and the Indian gentleman he thinks filed the complaint. Apparently, this person was telling the two of us what to say, and to whom, in order to get David fired.

Somehow, I've just never quite seen myself as the "puppet" type... but apparently this person has been pulling our strings for a while now.

I wonder how much of a fight I'm going to have on my hands over this, since David seems to be including me in his little persecution-and-revenge fantasies now?
