As some of you may recall, I posted back at the end of September about how my deceased father still cracked me up over completing Stage 3 of a knife-throwing program I'm working with.
Yesterday, 100 freaking days later, I *finally* managed to complete Stage 4.
Unfortunately, there was also an unintentional consequence.
Sometimes when you miss a throw, the knife will bounce back instead of just falling to the ground. If you ever plan to get into knife throwing, be prepared to stay light on your feet. It's rarely an problem, but I have had to dodge a few ricochets. Luckily I can move pretty swiftly, plus I have the kind of "ballistic sense" that has let me do things like stand there while people fire arrows at me and I would either dodge them or catch them (full disclosure: SCA-style arrows and appropriate-poundage bows).
Bicycles don't dodge nearly as well.
Yep, you guessed it -- one of my ricochets took out the rear tire on Best Beloved's bicycle.
Oops???
And now... on to Stage 5!

Stage 5 complete!
"Only" 63 days this time! (3/10 - 4/10 were taken up with a contest within the group, plus some travel)
Stage 6 requires 15 consecutive throws, changing the distance in specific ways for each throw. Tonight I managed 12 of the 15!
Now we'll see how badly I just jinxed myself! LOL
