I just got some feedback from two people in the knife-throwing system I'm working with. One is my direct "coach" and the other is the head of the system.
Specific terminology: the system divides a throwing motion up into discrete elements, or "gates." Gate 1 / G1 is the hand, G2 is the wrist, G3 is the shoulder, etc. You start with G1 and have to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency before moving to G2 (which is where I am now).
Since we are scattered around the world, part of the training involves submitting video of yourself. This is how you get feedback, how you demonstrate proficiency to move to a new stage, etc.
Earlier this week, I sent in a video of myself working on my new stage, with the new G2 element. (Some of you may recall me griping that it took me 100 days to get through the previous stage.) Today I got feedback on it... and now I'm going to have trouble fitting my swollen head through the doorways! LOL
This was my first G2 video. Apparently, between my martial arts background and the amount of time I spent on G1, my G2 is starting off a LONG way ahead of what they're used to seeing. The comment from the head of the system was that he was *amazed*, that it was the best G2 he has seen from a student anywhere close to my level.
They both went on to ask the rest of the class: "Does everyone see now why we optimize each gate before moving to the next? This is a perfect example."
So yeah, I definitely got a gold star today! :-)

We've certainly had challenges, but we've been lucky that ours have been less than those faced by many others.
Thank you for checking! I hope you and yours are also doing well?

Getting by, wife and I have remained Covid-free thus far, so can't complain.

New Mexico is going maskless, but I'm not. Especially not with another Omicron variant crawling around. And I just got a monoclonal antibody vaccination, so I'm probably actually better protected than most of the population!
