Along the lines of wishing people could make up their minds, and actually stick to a commitment...

I've heard from a friend of mine in the martial arts school in upstate NY that wants me to come teach a seminar for them. Apparently the instructor there has decided to stand by the date he committed to after all -- but he hasn't bothered to tell me this yet!

Unfortunately, it's considered bad manners to use the head of the host school for your uke (a.k.a. "Demonstration dummy," the person on whom you demonstrate the various techniques for the group)....

You know, I know you said it's in upstate NY, but I believe I'll be in NY city that date and if by some strange chance you were to be in the same vicinity I would be thrilled to meet up with you....
