Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] gryphonrhi: Light To Unite

Wait until the flash program draws the world map in a ribbon, then you can click on your rough area and pick a reason to contribute: hope, love, strength, health, or memory. For every candle lit, Bristol-Meyer Squibb will donate $1 to AIDS research, up to $100,000. They've still got a long way to go.

In general, I'm leery of web-based messages saying, "If you'll do this, we give you X or donate $$$ to Charity Y," but this one seems more believable than most. They don't ask for your contact information or any contribution from you, just that you select your general area on the map and pick one of the five reasons.

Personally, I selected "Hope." Which one will you select?

I picked "health". I really like the addition of the choice of sentiments -- it makes the act of "lighting" the candle one of affirmation or prayer, taking an intention and placing it on the world.

That's nice. And nicely done. Hope it is true (and can see it being so - good form of advertising, after all!) but it's nice anyway. And I picked Hope, too.
