One week ago today, I was hit by a driver who has navigating with his stomach instead of his eyes. Apparently he hadn't eaten all day, and was in a big hurry to get to KFC -- so much of a hurry that he couldn't be bothered to check for oncoming traffic.

Fortunately, no one was injured. Less fortunately, my car will almost certainly need an entirely new front bumper, as well as repairs to the front quarter panel on the driver's side. His car was a rental, so I doubt he's very concerned about the damages.

Last Wednesday morning, I called their insurance company to start the process of getting them to pay for repairs to my car. They gave me a claim number and said someone would be contacting me within 24 hours.

My clock must be fast -- I've been told several times now that X would happen within 24 hours, or within 1 business day. So far, they haven't managed it once.

At this point, the case has been referred to a local office, who "will get in touch with me within 24 hours" -- which were up at 1:00 this afternoon. When they hadn't called by 1:30, I called them, and was told that the case has been received, but not yet assigned to an individual. Apparently, they've been overloaded by the recent tornados and hail.

So... now it should take "a couple of days" for them to assign someone to the case, and we'll see where it goes from there.

I feel your frustration... I still after 3 months havn't been able to get back information from the police that I GAVE THEM!!! Nor have they even assigned it to a Detective.. (Hit and run) Hope things work out better for you. I've had repairs done to my car.. (on MY insurance)(and that still need to be tweaked by the repair center that didn't fix it very well) but would love to get the ratfinks that hit me so I can get my money back. sigh..
