Well, it looks like the Dojo Curriculum Designer idea is definitely in the lead at this point -- and since I have to turn in the formal Project Proposal and the Contract by midnight this Saturday, unless something happens very quickly to change my mind, that's what I'm using.

Essentially, it will be a Windows-based tool to help in setting up the details of what will be taught in a new martial arts school. It will let the user (presumably the person who will be running the aforementioned school) set up what ranks will be used, and what the requirements are for each rank (offensive/defensive hand techniques, foot techniques, stances, forms, self-defense techniques, etc.) If I have time, I would also like to set it up so that you can enter information about each form (stances/techniques contained in the form), and have it go back through and check to be sure that everything in the form has already been covered elsewhere in the curriculum (i.e. that the students don't encounter stances/techniques in the forms that they haven't already learned).

Granted, this project by itself has limited usefulness -- only one use per school should ever be needed. However, it would also serve as a foundation for other projects -- such as a "Student tracker," to keep track of each student's progress, what their current rank is, what requirements they've met/still need to meet for their next rank, etc.

If I wanted to get really fancy, I suppose I could do something like set it up to handle a bar-code scanner, so that instead of students having to "sign in" on a paper form, they could just scan a membership card and the system would track their attendance accordingly.

Yeah. In my copious spare time....
