Gakked from
shrewreader.
"Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own. Let me know if you want a letter."
I replied, and was given the letter 'S'
1) Smiles, especially on my lovely
gryphonrhi's face. With enough of those, I could eliminate my light bill! :-)
2) Snow, whether falling or already on the ground. I think my two favorite memories of snow are being able to give GryphonRhi her first White Christmas by taking her to my home town during one of the holiday seasons when we were dating, and of walking through falling snow one New Year's weekend a few years back with her and Shrewreader.
3) Sneakiness ::G::. Not the nasty-minded sort, but the ability to find an unexpected loophole in an opponent's plans, whether it be for gaming, sparring, or what have you.
4) Stalking. Again, not the sort most people think of when they hear that term, but hunt-stalking, like two weeks ago when I spent about 20 minutes stalking a deer that was maybe 15-20 yards away. Which brings me to...
5) Shooting, whether of a bow or a gun. I enjoy the flow of it, the movement, and the coordination of hand, eye, and body. I haven't gotten to do it for far too long now, but I actually enjoy the bow more than the gun. I find it has a greater aesthetic and spiritual pleasure to it.
6) Smart people, who haven't let their intelligence "go to their heads" ::G::. They tend to have a wide range of interests, and conversations with them tend to be very interesting and stimulating, and challenge me to re-examine my own ideas.
7) Singing. I have a pretty fair voice, and I enjoy using it -- on songs that fall into my range, at least. ::G:: Having such a low singing voice makes that a challenge, sometimes!
8) Software development -- my profession as well as my hobby. I've always loved puzzles, and to me this is one of the ultimate puzzles, one where I both determine what the final picture should look like and bring it into being.
9) Strategy games. Actually, just about ANY games, but the ones where I have to use my head for something besides a place to hold my glasses are my favorites.
10) Sex. Hey, I'm male, so you KNEW this one had to be on there!
and even though I'm only supposed to list 10, there's one more that needs to be said.
11) "Special" people. Most of the people walking this earth are, to put it very bluntly, sheep whose main purpose is the conversion of food into fertilizer. There are many others who are above this level, but ... there's nothing there. And then there are a few who, for whatever reason, matter more than the rest. They may never discover a cure for cancer, or bring warring nations to peace, but in some way they are very special, even if none of us know what form that might take. Sometimes I can tell these people, when I meet them... and the odds are that if you're reading this, I consider you to be one of them.
Okay, who wants a letter? 8-)
