Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] radarrider:

This article from the Hamilton Spectator describes the latest invention by Hamilton-born inventor Tony Hurtubise: a practical, lightweight and affordable ($2,000 to mass-produce) suit of body armor that will stave off bullets, explosives, knives, and clubs.

He admits that he drew inspiration from Star Wars, Robocop, Batman, and video games, and it shows. Sadly, this may prove to be the biggest obstacle to getting his invention into production for military/law enforcement personnel -- copyright infringement lawsuits from the entertainment industry.

okay, that's just... wrong. (the copyright infringement part.)

on the other hand, do we really want our side associated with stormtroopers of The Evil Empire? *giggle*

Nice Idea, but several major flaws can already be seen in it that any buyer will have to correct before field use. Like It comfortable in Canada in January, I doubt any one wan to wear in in Iraq in July.
