On the house...
Things have actually been coming along very well ::knocks on wood::. The entryway, office, and library have been fully painted, and the hallway has been painted except for the trim. At some point in the past, they thought it would be a good idea to nail wall-to-wall carpeting over the broken-tile flooring in the living room -- a fact we did not discover until we took out the carpet. Thanks to the loan of a Dremel and a grinder, the nails have now been removed, with the exception of one very small section behind a HUGE bookcase that we decided wasn't worth moving.
On my dojo...
Yesterday being Monday, I went to my karate school. I was very pleasantly surprised to see my teacher looking much better than he did last week, and in fact he taught class tonight. I'm trying to persuade him and Ralph (the fellow who's been his senior student for the last 4 years) to come to the Dillman seminar in Nashville next month. Gary-san (the head instructor) has decided that he wants his school to be a Dillman-affiliated school, and having the two of them (and as many other students as possible) come to Nashville will be a significant factor in making that happen.
On other matters...
I had dinner last night with one of my former students. We spent a little over 3 hours talking, laughing, debating, and generally catching up. He has indicated (explicitly in the past, and through broad hints this evening) that he would like for me to consider taking him on as a personal student. I'm willing to at least consider it, but I'm not ready to formally commit to that just yet.
