For those of you who've seen me any time in the last 7 years or so, you've seen how I wear my hair -- yes, it is that rare for me to change it.
Yesterday I got it cut. I told the stylist I wanted a shorter version of the same style I already had. She asked how much I wanted her to take off, "about half?" I said yes, that sounded about right. I clarified that I wanted it off the collar, over the ears, and no sideburns.
Keep in mind that I am blind as a bat without my glasses. Anything further away than the length of my own hand is blurry.
So she takes the electric shears and is trimming up the back of my neck, which is fine... and then she runs the shears across the side of my head!
I pulled away and asked her, "Just how short are you going with that thing?" She assured me that it would be fine, would be what I asked for, and that "it won't be a millitary cut."
She lied.
I don't have half of what I had before. Along the sides and in the back, I don't even have half of a bloody inch! I've got a LITTLE bit more than that on the top -- *maybe* two inches. And yes, it would pass inspection any branch of the military except those requiring a "high-and-tight" cut.
This is the shortest my hair has ever been, in my entire life -- I am NOT a happy camper.

Fortunately, the weather here is getting significantly warmer -- discounting the fact that we had several inches of snow on the ground earlier this week, of course. ::G::

Tell me you didn't pay her for the cut and complained to the manager. Someone who has that poor a set of communication skills shouldn't be cutting hair.

He did improve it considerably, and was as appalled as I was about the original job. His exact phrasing was, "Who *did* this to you?!?" When I told him, he just said, "Oh..." with that tone of "this isn't the first time we've had a problem with her."
After I left, I saw him in the back of the shop talking to the person in question. From the body language, it was not a pleasant conversation.

I'm told it doesn't look *that* bad, but that it's very startling.

Ditto'ng this, except (just checked), my hand's blurry. With one of my eyes, so's my elbow. I remind my stylist of this every time -- sometimes forget the mole, but never the "I can't see what you're doing".
So, any chance of pictures? ::g,d,rlh!::

Elbow? Hmm... I don't think you understood what I meant... place the heel of your hand against your nose, with the fingertips pointing straight away from you. Starting at the end of the fingertips, the world gets blurry. 8-/
Oh, well... I'm actually used to that -- it's been that way since I was 9 -- and can still function reasonably well in spite of it. Just don't ask me to read anything! LOL
Pictures? I'll think about it, but no promises! ;-)

You with a military-short hair cut simply does not compute.
Uhm.
Hat? I could knit you one?

And yeah, it's a *very* strange feeling. It's like I said to Rhi today, "You know what it feels like when your hair is sticking straight up, like when you first get out of bed in the morning? My whole HEAD feels like that! I mean, the hair isn't on my head, so of course it MUST be sticking up!"
