For those of you into hiking, backpacking, etc., I have a question.

There are a lot of recipes out there for "trail foods," including books such as "The well-fed backpacker" and "Lip-smakin' backpackin'" and others.

One problem is that a lot of these require a dehydrator, which I don't have. Another problem is that you can get an idea of whether or not you'll like something based on a printed recipe, but you don't know until you make it.

Do you have any favorite meals for packing on the trail? I'm looking specifically for things to be carried in a backpack, so a minimum of weight is desirable.

I don't have one of the vacuum packers, but I do have a couple of the airtight bags with the one-way valve, so all you have to do is put the clothes in them and roll them up, and the air is forced out.
